Premier League Season 2025/26 Gameweek 34

Matchweek 34 clashed with the FA Cup Semi Finals so we were left with just the 7 matches. Man City's absence from the schedule gave Arsenal a chance to bounce back from their disappointing trip up north while there were key matches in the hunt for European football and filling the last relegation spot.

Sunderland v Nottingham Forest

While Sunderland are, perhaps surprisingly, safe Forest are still looking over their shoulder, although results have been perking up recently.

Fulham v Aston Villa

Fulham started the day in the bottom half of the table but still had an eye on Europe while Villa were keen to cement their place in the Champions League spots and extend Unai Emery's 100% record against Fulham (P8W8)!

Liverpool v Crystal Palace

Despite the derby win last week and sitting in the top 5, most Liverpool fans will be glad to see the back of this season (and maybe Arne...!). On the other hand Palace seem to have recovered from their mid season slump and were probably travelling with confidence having beaten Liverpool three times already this season (yeah, yeah the Charity Shield went to pens but...!).

West Ham United v Everton

Both sides have plenty to fight for and both came into this game on a reasonable run of form. West Ham were unbeaten in 5 at home and Everton have been pretty strong away from home, albeit they've not had a great time in London recently (3 wins in the last 15 trips.).

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Tottenham Hotspur

Over the past two seasons Wolves (with 42) and Spurs (38) have had the most defeats in the Premier League leading some to dub this the L derby. Wolves won't be adding to that stat next season having already been relagated while Spurs were still fighting to avoid joining them (and ironically hoping to add to their Premier League L tally next season!).

Arsenal v Newcastle United

After a determined, but ultimately disappointing, trip up north last week, Arsenal were back home and looking to complete the double over a Newcastle team who have lost 8 of their last 11 in the Premier League (that's more than serial losers Spurs and Wolves in the same period!).

Manchester Utd v Brentford

Man U's decent run of form since the temporary appointment of Michael Carrick meant that they went into this game close to being guaranteed Champions League football next season. Meanwhile Brentford were still in the chase for a European spot themselves and looking to complete the double over their opponents for just the second time in their history (1936-37, when Utd were relagated!).
